How noisy is a wine cooler?
Most wine cooler cabinets generate a noise level around 35-45 decibels (dB). In comparison, a dishwasher in use is around 45-50 dB and a standard modern fridge about 35 dB.
Generally speaking, wine coolers produces slightly more noise than regular refrigerators. This is because of their greater need to maintain a constant temperature. The vast majority of wine coolers on the market consist of a compressor, a refrigerant circuit and a system of fans.
Acoustic considerations If you're building a new house it's a good idea to consider the acoustics and sound right from the start of your planning. There is a wealth of sound dampening materials available on the market that won't break your budget. Your contractor or local building supplier will be able to guide you through these.
For the rest of us, there are also a number of handy tricks and tips. A handclap test is a quick way to ascertain the acoustic "behaviour" of a space. Clap loudly in a room and listen for how much reverberation there is in the echo. It doesn't take more than a second before it will be perceived as bothersome.
Lastly, there's also valuable advice about how to design your interior to accommodate your wine cabinet cooler. Some of the advice takes the form of general observations while other advice applies to more specific situations.
Sources that enhance acoustics:
- Carpets, thick curtains and other thick fabrics absorb sound.
- Furniture, paintings and decorative items can dampen reverberations.
- Use sound-absorbing materials when building, especially in high rooms.
What is the best way I can reduce the noise of my wine cooler?
- Make sure the wine cooler is perfectly level
- Place it on a vibration and noise-absorbing material.
- Make sure air can circulate around the cooler cabinet.

We needed to order a fridge that was just under 42CM and this fitted the space just right. On receipt of the fridge, plugged it in and since installation, the unit has been working just fine.. have put the wines and set the top temp to 5 degree and it seems to have chilled those pretty nicely. Absolutely recommend this as there are not that many tall wine fidges with this width.

Liebherr WTes 5972 Wine Fridge Vinidor Dual Zone Wine Cabinet - 211 bottles - 700mm wide
WTES 5972
Regular price £3,990.00- LED lighting. The innovative LED lighting guarantees the even illumination of the interior without UV exposure. Since minimal heat is generated by the LEDs, wines can be presented bathed in light over a prolonged period of time.
- PowerCooling system. The high-performance PowerCooling system rapidly cools down freshly stored food and creates an even cooling temperature throughout the interior. A door contact switch turns the fan off when the door is opened. This saves valuable energy.
- Door alarm. The audible door alarm alerts the user if the door has been open for longer than 60 seconds for safe protection of the food.
- Child lock. The child lock is programmed so as to prevent the appliance being inadvertently switched off.A symbol in the MagicEye indicates when the child lock is switched on.
- Reversible door hinges. The appliances are factory fitted with door hinges on the right. The reversible door hinges permit optimum use of the appliance wherever it is located.
- Multi-temperature wine cabinets. Vinothek multi-temperature wine cabinets are particularly suitable for keeping different wines at their respective optimum drinking temperature. Specific temperature zones are achieved through the use of special components. In the upper area, for example, red wine can be cooled at +18°C. At a temperature of +5 °C, the bottom zone is ideal for cooling sparkling wine or champagne. The zone in between is ideal for white wines which should be stored at drinking temperature.
- Vinidor range. With two or three wine safes that can be precisely regulated from +5°C to +20°C independently of one another, the Vinidor appliances offer maximum flexibility of use. The appliance featuring three wine safes can therefore simultaneously keep red wine, white wine and champagne at their optimum serving temperatures. These appliances also provide the ideal climate conditions for long-term wine storage. Since the wine safes vary in size, and their temperatures can be set with absolute flexibility, these appliances can accommodate any personal selection of wines.
- Controllable temperature range. Constant storage temperatures are required to allow wines to mature to perfection. The ideal temperature for maturing is the same for all wines, whether red or white, and lies between +10°C and +12°C. The precision electronic control system combined with state-of-the-art climate technology ensures that the set temperatures in the interior are continuously maintained, even when the ambient temperature is subject to severe fluctuations.
- Activated Charcoal Filter. Environmental odours can affect wines stored for longer periods. In the wine cabinets, perfect air quality is ensured through an easily-replaceable FreshAir activated charcoal filter.
- Presentation shelves. The presentation shelf sets off fine wines to perfection and keeps bottles that have already been opened at the optimum temperature. Up to 6 wine bottles can be placed upright on the flexible shelf. Wine bottles can be stored lying down either behind or at the side.
